The Staying Active team is dedicated to the over 50’s to keep you happy and healthy. We have many activities from singing or dancing to joining a friendship group.
The Staying Active centres provide an informal and friendly atmosphere to meet new people and join in the varied activities such as crafts, computer training, crown green bowling, gentle exercise classes, presentations and talks. Each centre is unique as we encourage you to decide what you would like to do. Claire and Tina are here to help you choose a centre which is best suited to your interests, along with a dedicated team of volunteers who will ensure that you get the most out of your visit.
We also have intergenerational projects and work with local primary and secondary schools where you can join ‘Singing for Fun’ or gain a bit of fresh air with our gardening project. Heather is here to encourage you to get the most out of life and make new friends along the way.
If you enjoy dining out, we have a Sunday Lunch club who meet at Bradbury House on the third Sunday of every month and a weekly pub club who enjoy a meal at a local pub on alternate Wednesdays and Fridays. Please note that places would require booking as they are popular and limited.
If exercise is your thing, why not join a Fit as a Fiddle class which are funded by the Big Lottery. This is gentle exercise suitable for the older person. There are classes being held all over Stafford and are growing in number all the time. To find out where your nearest class is being held contact Claire and Tina who would be happy to advise you on your nearest session or visit the Staying Active Stafford website below.
Fit as a Fiddle is a national project aimed at providing opportunities for older people to remain or become active and healthy in later years. With an ageing population, it's no good living longer if you have lost your mobility and are stuck at home on your own, so we want to encourage people to grow old in a fit and healthy way.
